So Much More Than Kale Chips!

Kale is everywhere these days and although I am not a big fan of Kale, I have been addicted to Kale chips lately. That is the only application of Kale that I like. This book gives so much information about what to do with Kale and features interesting recipes like Kale Eggs Florentine, Sausage & Kale Skillet, and Kale Mac & Cheese! The book is aptly named Kale: the everyday superfood. When I looked at the nutritional information about Kale, I was amazed to see how much I was missing out so I decided to give this book and Kale a try. I particularly enjoyed reading chapter 1 and chapter 2, that give an introduction and the very basics of Kale. It was enlightening to read so much information about this superfood and why it is called that. There are SO many recipes using Kale featured in this book that it is impossible to not like at least one of them! So far, I have only tried a couple of them but I did like them. It also made me realize, if treated properly, Kale can be delicious and not bitter as expected. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and do recommend it if you are looking to get into fitness or interested in healthy living or like me don't know what else to do with Kale :)

Fantastic Recipes for kale

I love kale, but I only knew of a few different things to do with it. Very basic things that everyone knows about, and most people have tried. When I was given the opportunity to review this ebook for my honest and unbiased opinion... I gladly accepted. I was given no instruction on how to write my review, and I was not compensated outside of receiving the ebook.

The title of this book says it all in my opinion. After purchasing this book you will never need to look any further for kale recipes or ideas again! It covers everything from a little bit of the history, all of the many reasons that kale is a superfood (there are so many benefits that I was not aware of!), how to grow your own kale and the different stages (the leaf list), how to select good kale when shopping, and the nutritional benefits. Tips for prepping and storage. Kale myths. Also, the history of kale. I wasn't kidding when I said the title fits the book. It is all things kale! I felt extremely confident moving forward with more complex recipes after reading the beginning of the book. Very familiar with kale.

The recipes go from basic to more complex. Covering everything from blanched kale, smoothie and juice recipes, breakfast, snacks, soups and stews, salads, finger foods, and main dishes. Each recipe states which category it belongs in. Such as kid friendly, single people, one pot meal, meat lovers, vegan. The prep and cook time. Servings. It also gives a small description of the dish before listing the ingredients, and the recipe. It has tips, and the nutritional value after each recipe. I found this really useful. I've tried a lot of the smoothie recipes already, and some you cannot even really taste the kale. So if you are not a fan, you can still get the great benefits of this superfood. I love this book, and I will using recipes from it for a long time. My kids loved the kale salmon packets! If you are looking for new ideas on how to use kale, this book is for you!

Although I've heard a lot about Kale recently, I never thought it could actually be as healthy as they say it is. I got this book because my husband was recently diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, and I need to learn how to prepare healthier meals for both of us. This book literally blew me away with the amount of information it contains! Not only does it describe the many different varieties, it offers different ways to incorporate Kale and it's super-nutrition into various recipes - even brownies. There are even directions on how to grow your own Kale. The recipes offered in this book go beyond salads and Kale chips. There are recipes for using Kale in smoothies, soups and stews, main dishes and breakfast, in addition to Kale snacks and dips. I'm anxious to get started on some of the recipes contained in this book!
A bonus is the "The Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen" offered in Appendix A. This is a current list (2015) from the USDA and FDA about the fruits and vegetables with the highest (Dirty Dozen) and lowest (Clean Fifteen) amounts of pesticides in commercial crops.
